Wayne Clean -Up Day May 18, 2011
Meet us at the War Memorial on S. Wayne Ave, 8:30 AM Business and student volunteers will be busy on Saturday morning as they clean up Wayne in anticipation of next weekend's Memorial Day Parade. The Wayne Business Association has declared Saturday as "Wayne Clean-Up Day". A crew of volunteers will be making a clean sweep of the parade route on Lancaster Avenue starting at 8:30 Saturday morning. "We are delighted to have two great student groups volunteering to help" said Jack Brooks, WBA Board member and Committee Chairman, who is coordinating the event. "We have student volunteers from the Valley Forge Military Academy that are members of the National Honor Society and younger students from the Community Service Club of the Radnor Middle School." "Everyone is excited to spend the morning doing something good for our town." Many people throughout the community participate in the activities of the Wayne Business Association. Each year the WBA hosts many activities including the Radnor Fall Festival, lighting the town tree for the Holiday Season, and supporting scholarships for student employees of its businesses. But since its founding in 1939, the overall mission has been to promote the business, professional, and civic interests of the whole community. The WBA ensures Wayne is always looking its best with seasonal flower pots and street decorations. All these activities are funded by a combination of sponsorships and membership dues. read more...
