And The Bryn Mawr Trust Company
Benjamin V. M. Wilson was a dedicated community volunteer in the Wayne/Radnor Township area and devoted many hours of his personal time to various community organizations. A partial list of those organizations are: Wayne Business Association; Wayne Rotary Club; Radnor ABC; Wayne Senior Center; Wayne Public Safety Association; Memorial Day Parade Committee; Radnor Fall Festival Committee; Family Forum; Main Line Chamber of Commerce; Mount Pleasant Carr School House; Surrey Services for Seniors; Planned Lifetime Assistance of PA, a/k/a PLAN OF PA. We hope we have not overlooked any organization, but would be pleased to hear from any individuals about other volunteer efforts of our departed friend, Ben Wilson.
The Wayne Business Association and Bryn Mawr Trust Company honor the memory of Ben Wilson by awarding an annual community service tribute to an individual who emulates Ben's spirit and volunteerism.
Nominations may be made by an individual, or through an organization in the Wayne or Radnor community, or through a member of the Wayne Business Association. Deadline is March 29, 2011. Please mail to WBA, P.O. Box 50, Wayne, PA 19087. Or call Nelson Dayton at 610-688-9188 for information.
Nominees should be actively involved in community and volunteer efforts in Wayne or the Radnor community. Nominees should evidence community spirit; willingness to volunteer time and effort on behalf of the community; community involvement in organizations; kindness, cheerfulness and courage. We believe that Ben Wilson displayed all of these attributes and we desire to carry on his memory and spirit by virtue of the annual award.
A panel of judges will review nominations and make the presentation at the Annual Awards Dinner meeting of the Wayne Business Association on April 21, 2011. A $500.00 award will be donated to a local charitable organization of the award recipient's choice. A permanent plaque is displayed in the Memorial Library of Radnor Township denoting the names of the past recipients.
